Bevels and Flat Markers

Bevels are sometimes called Pillow Markers. They sit low to the ground and have a slight angle to their face. We recommend bevels over flat markers because the angled face allows the water to run off the face of the stone. Typically the highest point of the back of a bevel is 6", 8", 10" or 12" and the front is 2" shorter. You can add a porcelain or laser portrait to a bevel and create a beautiful, classy, personalized stone.  They come in the following standard sizes: 16x8, 20x10, 24x12, 30x12, 36x12 and 48x12. While we can custom order any size, we usually carry these standard sizes in stock in the following colors: Light Gray, Black, Bahama Blue, Indian Mahogany, Blue Pearl, Morning Rose, India Red.

Flat markers come in the same sizes, however as their name implies, the stone face is completely flat. When possible, we advise for these to be placed on top of foundations with rock pitch sides and not flush in the ground, unless required by the cemetery.

Some families choose to put up a large upright family stone with the family name on it, and then place bevel and flush markers around it for individual stones. Families also choose flush and bevel markers to mount veteran bronze plaques on.

A carved bevel set on a foundation starts around $750 and goes up from there. Price is impacted by stone size, the color of the granite and if you choose to add a laser etching or porcelain portrait.  Cost is also impacted on the cemetery requirements for the foundation.
